While Gore-Tex® will keep you dry no matter what, the water resistant coating stops the outer trouser getting soaked, so the trousers don't end up carrying the weight of a heavy down pour, you don't get soaked taking the trousers off when you arrive, and you don't have the problem of finding somewhere to hang your motorcycle clothing to dry.
