AGV has developed their newest iteration of the K-Series to be “…the best helmet for any use”, introducing the brand new for 2020, AGV K6.
Over the years, AGV has gained a huge amount of knowledge and produced a lot of innovative technology through its partnership with the MotoGP. They have continually worked close to world champions to produce the “maximum” in comfort, versatility and safety no matter how extreme the conditions are. All this knowledge and know-how has gone into the creation of the AGV K6, a full-face motorcycle helmet for any rider and for any riding style.
A new iteration of AGV’s super popular K Series, the K6 improves greatly on the previous model’s protection, comfort and safety. The AGV K6 offers the same qualities that professional MotoGP riders are guaranteed, for £359.99 for the plain colours, and £399.99 for the high-quality graphics.
The AGV K6 has a premium carbon-aramid mix fibre shell, along with a five density EPS Liner, all to deliver a level of protection that a MotoGP professional racer would demand. The entire design of the helmet began with one key mission: to provide maximum and guarantee the safety of the wearer. With this mission every feature was designed with protection in mind. The visor mechanisms on the helmet are incredibly small to maximise coverage of the EPS liner.
Even with the heavy level of protection that the K6 is packed with, the helmet has a super-lightweight design. The smallest shell size comes in at just 1,220 grams, an incredible lightweight that helps to reduce tiredness in your neck and limit strain. But not just that the K6 has a neutral dynamic weight that means the bulk helmet is not felt on your head.
The actual profile of the helmet is specially designed by AGV to minimize the chance of an impact with your collarbone in the event of a fall. Collarbone injuries are one of the most common riders can have due to how common it is to extend your arm as you fall, pushing your shoulder up and pushing your motorcycle helmet against the side of your collarbone. The design of the K6 is meant to limit and reduce the change of this happening by having a specially cut profile.
The aerodynamics of the K6 has borrowed a lot from its older, more race-focused siblings like the Corsa R, to produce a shape that cuts through the air while you ride reducing wind buffeting and limiting turbulence on the helmet and so on your neck. This will greatly improve the comfort of your ride and AGV even says that you will “…feel the difference, in any situation” of this aerodynamic performance. The shape of the shell is also optimized for any riding position – so no matter if you prefer a tucked race position or a more relaxed seated position you will still benefit from the aerodynamic performance.
The interior of the helmet is made from specially selected materials to meet the comfort needs of the most extreme conditions – those faced by MotoGP’s riders. The liner is breathable and absorbent and acts fast to absorb sweat leaving your face dry thanks the 2 Dry treatment on them. The cheek pads and crown pad are made from super soft Shalimar fabric. The interior padding is also treated with sanitized, antibacterial protection for even more comfort.
The outer part of the interior liner is made from waterproof and wear-resistant Ritmo fabric alongside faux leather, so it can withstand some heavy usage and riding in poorer weather.
The ventilation of the AGV K6 is managed by the five large air vents on the outside of the helmet, all specifically positioned to maximize cool air into the helmet. The central air vent on the brow works alongside the two additional top air vents to flush the helmet with cool air that runs across your head cooling you. This is absolutely necessary for keeping you cool and at your best during a track day event - and just as important to keep you at your best on your commute or long tour ride.
The chin then has a further two vents to allow even more cooling air into the helmet. The two rear extractor vents work to filter air out of the helmet reducing the helmet becoming stuffy and uncomfortable. And all of these vents are controlled by easy to use switches, designed especially for use whilst wearing bulky motorcycle gloves.
The AGV K6 is built for use with the brand-new ARK intercom meaning the intercom can be simply and easily fitted to the helmet. And this means the intercom will have a low-profile design that will not affect aerodynamic performance. A model-specific mounting kit will be required to fit the ARK to the K6 which will be available separately. The ARK Intercom retails at £249.99 and the K6 Specific mounting kit will be a further £14.99.
The K6 comes with AGV’s exclusive Ultravision visor which “guarantees a 190-degree horizontal field of vision” – this gives you incredible periphery vision and allows you the best view of the road possible. The visor also gives an 85-degree vertical vision. There is a choice of 5 opening levels if you need further venting. And you get a 120 Max Vision Pinlock in the box with the helmet.
The K6 has a super secure Double D Retention system strap and AGV’s patented Extra Quick Release System that provides even better peace of mind. The fit of the K6 is designed especially with glasses wearers in mind.
