Shoei was designing top-of-the-range helmets packed with the most modern technology in the actual 1980’s and now they are continuing to do so in the '80s revival that is happening right now. This retro styled full-face motorcycle helmet has effortless cool alongside the most modern technology to keep you protected, comfortable and performing at your best.
The Glamster is the newest model in Shoei’s Neo-Classic series, a reimagining of some casually cool motorcycle helmets you would find decades ago but with all the brand-new innovative technology that Shoei has developed. Alongside Shoei’s previous Neo-Classic models the J-O and EX-Zero, the Glamster has a design that harks back to previous eras when it was all about looking good getting there.
FEATURES
The Glamster features Shoei’s signature AIM Shell (Advanced Integrated Matrix), which is made up from three distinct features. Firstly, there is the outer shell made from primarily Fibreglass, then that is integrated with organic fibres to strengthen the bonds. This results in an outer shell that has very high strength but a low weight. The shell is given its shape by a heat-setting plastic resin that also acts to further strengthen the construction of the shell.
The Glamster’s AIM Shell is also designed to be more resistant to penetration thanks to the special fibres used in the construction, the AIM Shell also has a distinct weight advantage over traditionally built helmets. The AIM Shell has also been specially designed through its qualities of elasticity and strength to disperse any impact across the largest possible area so as to have the EPS liner absorb the full brunt of the impact. This means any effect from a crash will be shown on the helmet’s shell and EPS liner and not on your head.
The Shoei Glamster has a main front vent on the brow of the helmet just under the retro styled Shoei logo, that is operated by a glove-friendly shutter. The vents allow a stream of cool fresh air into the channels of the EPS liner cooling your head while you ride before the air is filtered out by the rear exhausts. There is also a group of wide vents on the chin of the helmet to provide even more comfortable cooling.
The helmet features a new style visor construction that means the visor seals against a rubber strip around the visor aperture – this seal is a great defence against any rain or wind getting into the helmet. The Glamster uses the brand new CPB-1 along with a vintage style screw-down visor mechanism that is very well secured against unexpected openings while riding. But this screw-down mechanism does mean you need to put in a bit more effort to change or swap out your visor.
The interior of the helmet is thankfully not so faithful to the uncomfortable designs of the bygone 70’s and 80’s and is a, fully removable and washable, 3D Centre-pad and cheek-pads made from soft fabric for added comfort. The chinstrap has the ever-reliable and classic styled Double D-Ring closure.
A ton of bang-up-to-date features and mod cons that will make your riding life easier but it’s the style the Glamster exudes that is its biggest selling point, that aggressive, effortlessly cool '80s style. From the stripped-down vintage design, to the retro style Shoei logos, to the gorgeous block plain colours and retro styled graphics the Glamster is wonderfully evocative of the '80s without any of the drawbacks for protection, performance and comfort.
