The Daytona Trans Tourman Gore-Tex Boots are waterproof CE-Approved boots with ankle and calf protection and a reinforced sole.
These all-season boots have been constructed from full-grain cowhide and a waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX Duratherm membrane which will keep the rider dry and comfortable whilst riding in all weather.
Fitted with two padded shaft ends to keep dirt and splash water out of the boot, an anatomically shaped torsion-resistant inner sole with a steel inlay with a significant plastic switching reinforcement helps keep the rider protected in case of an impact. The inner side protections for the calf and ankle and heel protector zones are bolstering this.
Other features of these CE-Approved boots are the three-coloured enduro sole, the elastic adjustable suspension, a buckle, velcro and a zipper for closing.

There’s a story that does the rounds claiming a well-known TV commentator once said, “It’s easy to tell the professional riders who don’t have boot sponsors, they’re the ones wearing Daytona Boots.”
Possibly an apocryphal story but with over 70 world motorcycle titles to their credit since 1968 the Frey Daytona company certainly has a lot to shout about. However despite their worldwide success in racing Daytona boots are better known for their very high quality road use motorcycle boots, especially their Gore Tex range.
Their wide range of motorcycle boots are handcrafted in Germany from the finest materials using the most modern techniques. Reinhard Frey and Helmut Frey have built a reputation for producing the best motorcycle boots in the world and they continually work at maintaining their edge.
For example the leather hide they use is sourced from farms that don’t use barbed wires as the cow rubbing on the fence can weaken the hide. Most motorcycle boots have ankle protection, often this is just a token leather patch over sewn onto the boot, on Daytona boots there is a large solid banana shaped anatomically formed robust reinforcement that offers serious protection to this critical area. Likewise the anti-slip sole used on Daytona boots is reinforced with a hot-dip galvanised steel inlay and the soles are designed to take the weight of a bike resting on them in the event of a mishap.
Daytona boots are designed to be comfortable on and off the bike as the company know that there are lot of professionals who wear their boots all day who want the most amount of protection on the bike, but need maximum comfort off of it. That’s why there are a lot of Police and Ambulance riders who put their faith (and their feet) in these German made motorcycle boots.
One of the reasons Daytona boots are so popular is because their adjustability means that they can adjusted to suit a variety of leg widths. On some models there is a twin zip entry which is designed to make the boots easier to slip on, particularly if you have a high instep.
Whilst the Gore Tex models are designed to keep you totally dry, the non-Gore models are designed to be shower proof thanks to the use of a special hydrophobic cow hide used throughout the range. This is achieved by using a specialised tanning process which is exclusive to Frey Daytona. To help keep the integrity of the outer skin throughout the life of the boots Daytona produce specialised creams and polishes which be used on the boots without affecting the performance of the Gore Tex liner. The heavy waxes used in conventional polishes can block the breathable Gore Tex pores.
The interiors of the boots are all designed for maximum comfort and the use of materials such as polyamide and polyester helps the wick ability of the interior whilst the use of an anatomically formed climatic insole and a PU foam sole in the majority of models just adds to the comfort and safety.
On road biased models which are designed to come up the leg you’ll find shinbone protection padded with latex foam inside and also a 3M-Scotchlite heel reflector. Another safety feature is the curved main zip which is designed not to burst or rip open in the event of an accident, something which can happen to standard straight zips in extreme circumstances.
Because these boots are hand crafted in Germany we can send them back to the manufacturer for a refurbishment after a few years when they’re getting past their best. Using only original parts the factory can do things such as re-sole, re-Gore, re-zip and replace the reinforced gear change cushion, all of which can wear out over time. There is a charge for this service but its better value than buying new boots, in our experience the leather upper is very rarely worn out after only a few years, especially if it’s been looked after
Cleaning Tips:
It is recommended that your boots are regularly impregnated with Daytona Leather cleaner. Regularly clean the boots from road dirt, and spread a thin layer of the cleaner over them. Leave them to slowly dry and then polish the leather with a soft cloth. Leather is a natural product and needs moisturising. Leather care is necessary so that it doesn't dry out, tear or crack. Wet boots are best left to dry with boot trees, or stuffed with old newspaper.
Regularly impregnate your boots with Daytona Leather Cleaner Polish or Daytona Aqua Stop to prevent the leather from becoming blocked. Dry upper material is better at keeping you warm. When the boots are wet, position them with the sole facing upwards so that the moisture can escape from the leather of the boot more easily. When cleaning your Gore Tex boots use products which contain a low fat and / or oil content as they can reduce the breathing ability dramatically. That’s why we recommend the use of Daytona Special Leather care and Nässe-Stop.
When the boot is saturated, it is possible that over-night the inside lining of the boot becomes somewhat damp. This is normal and still means that boot is waterproof, it’s just that the Gore Tex liner works both ways and as the water evaporates the vapour molecules become small enough to penetrate the small holes which give the product its breathability. We recommend using newspaper to trap these errant molecules of moisture.
Daytona boots are probably the best motorcycle boots available and with over 20 different models available in the UK, plus a custom design service for making truly exclusive one off models there’s no reason not to choose the best. Your feet deserve it.
