The Furygan Apalaches Jacket is a AA-rated adventure touring jacket featuring a waterproof and breathable membrane, a removable thermal liner and CE-approved D3O protection.
This all-season jacket is made from high-tenacity polyester, with a water-repellent coating and soft neoprene at the neck and cuffs for extra comfort. The waterproof and breathable membrane and detachable long-sleeve thermal lining make this jacket suitable for all weather conditions and climates. This is further bolstered by the AFS (Air Flow System) vents at the sleeves and back, to allow cool air in during hotter rides.
The Apalaches is fitted with D3O elbow and shoulder armour as well as pockets at the chest and back to accommodate additional D3O protection (sold separately). This jacket also has reflective inserts to make sure that the rider is visible on the roads at low light and riding at night.
Other characteristics of the Apalaches jacket include the jacket-to-trouser fastening system to form a one-piece textile suit, waist and sleeve adjusters for an optimal fit, and a total of nine pockets, including six exterior pockets (two of which are quick-opening, and one waterproof pocket) and three inside pockets.

Founded in 1969 by Jacques Segura, the Furygan brand was forged with passion, commitment and a culture of excellence. At the age of 14, Jacques Segura was already working with leather in every way, eager to learn, going from shoes to gloves with the same dexterity as his parents, craftsmen. This spirit of innovation, this passion for leather work, this avidity for all the technical and technological advances that can improve the daily life of motorcyclists, but above all this will to never compromise when dealing with safety, are the fundamentals of the company. These values are perpetuated today by David Segura, his son, who, by initiating the turn to textiles and continuing to modernise the company, has anchored the brand’s position.
We are bikers, and we are on the front line.
With its know-how, Furygan has evolved and refocused on its core business: the development and manufacture of technical clothing for motorised two-wheelers. Today, Furygan is the leader of the French market and is growing internationally. Furygan is involved in the protection of motorcyclists whatever their riding style, on the road, on the track or off the beaten track.

Good jacket with a few niggles
I chose this to go with the Furygan airbag vest and overall it is a decent jacket. It feels sturdy, the AA rating is welcome, it has decent adjustment and good sized pockets (not waterproof though). The main fault of this jacket, is that it’s impossible to get gloves inside the sleeve cuffs, they just don’t open any where near wide enough. This means water just runs down the sleeves and into your gloves. I’ve had to resort to wearing a thin waterproof jacket over the top. I find the sleeves a bit short too, so that doesn’t help. Also, when the neck fasting is fully closed, the material is scratchy and uncomfortable against a bare neck, so you have to wear a neck tube. When it’s hot, the neck opening only fastens back one side, not both, which is frustrating. Overall, it’s got potential to be a great jacket, but it’s let down by badly thought out details.
