Best value for the level of security it provides

With the chain included, I wasn't able to find another product to compete with it in terms of the level of security you get for this price. The alarm could have probably been a bit louder, but it would do the job to make a thief give up on stealing my bike.

Frustrating!

Whilst I’m sure that this is a very solid and secure lock and chain, the Oxford Boss Alarm Disc Lock is one of the most user unfriendly disc locks I have come across. The way that the key has to be inserted into the lock means that I cannot use the lock with the alarm setting. It takes far too long to locate the right way for the key to go in, triggering the alarm every time. I was hoping that my technique would improve after using it a number of times, but unfortunately it hasn’t. Whilst I am sure that Oxford designed this lock for maximum security, they seem to have neglected the end user. In my opinion, the spinning barrel is not the best to use. Perhaps this is easier to unlock with an angle grinder or bolt croppers rather than the key??

Alarm triggered when it rains

Well it would be a great product only if 1. The alarm wasn't triggered when it rains 2. The shape of the key (a half-circle- you better be prepared when you want to disarm the alarm or you will trigger it otherwise) was normal 3. The alarm was louder, it does less noise than my disk lock (from oxford]

Very Robust lasted me years

Robust lasted me years I have this on my shed to secure my shed that was attempted to break-in some years ago but it wasn’t successful. I think it’s save me an awful they managed to break into my other shed with a much more inferior l lock on it and they took everything in there

Good product

Looks and feels robust, and the alarm though very sensitive, is hopefully a good deterrent. Be aware of the price, says its a sale and reduced to £89.99, but i paid that price in October 2020 so not really a sale anymore! Can be difficult to slip through the disc holes, i have a Bandit 1200 and i can get it on there ok though. Would recommend.

Travel use and Home Use

Great little (BIG) disc lock for travel use as well as it being perfect as an alarmed disc lock/padlock for a chain at home. The chain is only 12mm, so I would still recommend getting something thicker (a 16/19mm) for at home, if the bike is left outside. However, as a deterrent, this is a good bit of kit!

Does what it says it should do.

Even though my bike is parked in a locked garage at home I wanted an extra layer of security. This chain and alarmed lock combination has worked well for me. It was very easy to set up and is easy to use. No false alarms so far and the option of taking just the lock with me to use as a disc lock when I'm touring means extra security on the road.

Disappointed

I purchased this item two months ago and I can say that I am disappointed, as the motorbike being locked in the garage, the alarm turns on at times without being touch and to reset it you need to go and shake the lock. I was expecting a better product, especially for this amount of money that you pay for it.

Great value for money

A great heavy duty chain and nice sleeve its in.Lock is very durable and loud which is always an added bonus. Would highly recommend.

Does the job, but the key hole can be a little fidly

It certainly appears to be a solid and sturdy lock and chain. I'm reasonably happy with it. My only issue is that the lock can be a little fidly, and I often set it off trying to get the key in. I think it would be useful if the alarm delayed a little, no more that 5 seconds would be sufficient and I don't think that little delay would have any impact on someones ability to steal the bike. I also have a Xena XZZ6 disc lock, and the Oxford one is noticeably quieter. It's certainly loud enough to annoy a potential burglar if they are not wearing a helmet, but when I have my helmet on the noise doesn't really bother me much.

Super lock & thick chain

Have had the Oxford Boss lock before - works a treat and seems strong enough to justify its Thatcham rating. The chain is brilliant too, even thicker and stronger than I imagined it would be. Excellent products, highly recommended.

Great value

Great disc lock, very strong and sturdy and the alarm is as loud as hell. I have gone Def after setting it off in my shed. Lucky you can just have it as a normal disc long and not have it alarmed. It's up to you. Great value with the chain thrown in.

Secure & steady!

Ready good lock and super strong chain. It does what is supposed to. The alarm is not as sensitive as the review indicate, sensitive enough if someone is trying to move the steering or the chain it triggers. Only down point water gets inside the lock and in due time i believe it could damage the entry point, rather than that works like a charm!

The product came as specified and in a timely fashion. The lock and chain both work well (my bike hasn't been stolen, or even attempted at, and I leave it parked on the street in Clapham overnight...).

Outstanding Lock, Best Quality A*

This is the 2nd one I've had as I stupidly gave the other one away when selling my old bike. Great saving on my insurance and peace of mind would recommend to anyone who cares about there machine, not only is it really strong but it looks so huge I hope it keeps thieves away.

Great

Bought this to use as an alarm on my bicycle at home. The padlock fits around parts of the frame, and the chain is super chunky. For cyclists, it's not something you want to carry around with you, but if you've got room on your bike, sure. Sometimes it goes off with no apparent reason, but can't really fault it.

Great product but a bit sensitive

Very good overall product! My cruiser is nearly 20 years old and the discs don't have big enough holes in them to fit it through and as i have chrome spokes it can be a bit fiddly to fit it. With the great strength chain that i got with it though this makes it nice and simple to use. I have found that the wind can set it off though!

Brilliant idea

This is a great bit of kit and I got it at a bargain price. It's a really heavy duty padlock and chain and the alarm is LOUD!! The only issue I have with it is that you only have 5 seconds to lock or unlock it, would be nice to have a little longer.

A good solid product

This is a substantial 'U' bar lock and chain. The alarm feature on the U bar is useful and very sensitive. With just five seconds after locking the bar before any movement sets the alarm off, you need to arrange the lock and chain in position carefully before locking it. There is a bit of a knack to this but it's soon learnt. Since the alarm contact is on one arm of the bar only, it is possible to use the U bar without the alarm feature (by reversing the arms of the bar in the shackle) and this may be useful in situations where you don't want the alarm to be triggered, for example if your bike settles slightly on its side stand in blustery winds or when a large vehicle goes past, or if you have an inquisitive cat at home. The battery pack is easily removed using the Allen key supplied and the six button cells are of a type readily obtainable, when replacement is needed. Good product good price

Feel like my bike is much safer with this alarm lock and chain on. Great deterrent, easy to use. Can lock alarmed and un-alarmed for traveling with. Would recommend.

oxford disc lock alarm

It's a big chunky lock with a decent chain, alarm works well but really needs to be a little louder, but on the whole a good piece of kit.

Great value combination

Bought the lock and chain as a package deal, far cheaper than just the lock alone. My only complaint would be that the chain is a little on the short side, however the length is stated on the description so I only have myself to blame. Goods came quickly and well packaged.

Excellent lock.

I like the alarm feature and the size of this lock. It fits snugly through the brake disc and caliper support. You can't roll the bike at all. Combined with the hefty chain and alarm, bike seems pretty secure to me.

Very good but has a hair trigger

This Boss alarmed disc lock feels very solid and is easy to fit and use. It's brightly coloured so should warn off thieves. It came with a decent chain as well so good value. However, my only issue is it's very sensitive, so you need to make sure its not going to move even slightly after locking or it will go off. Even a strong breeze will set it off. Still, at least you know it's working...

Excellent service!

No real point in reviewing the products (Oxford OF8 Boss Alarm Disc Lock and Chain), since they are well known. What was impressive was delivery from Infinity to my door in less than 24 hours from order! Simple online system, easy pay, next day delivery and secure packaging. The items were in tip-top condition and worked. If only all online buying could be this good!
