Rukka ArmaS Gore-Tex Trousers - Black
Rukka Arma-S Gore-Tex Trousers - Black
The outer of the Rukka ARMAS jeans is a 3 Layer laminate.
Layer 1: Armacor
A tough mix of Cordura and Kevlar. Every fourth strand of thread in the outer material is Kevlar®, known for it's anti-tear properties. This is complimented by Cordura's abrasion resistance and a water repellent coating. The result is an extremely tough outer shell that remains comfortable.
The Rukka Armas trousers also feature Gore-Tex Superfabric overlays on the knees, providing further abrasion resistance as well as helping to reduce heat generated by friction against road surfaces being transferred to the fabric beneath.
- 100% Waterproof - Even under high pressures the water drops cannot penetrate the membrane. Your body remains dry.
- 100% Wind proof - The wind is caught in the structure of the membrane. You stay warm.
- Breathable - Body moisture escapes through the membrane.
Layer 3: Lining
A breathable comfort lining is bonded to the Gore-Tex® membrane to provide comfort and protect the Gore-Tex® from wear and tear.
The outside of the jeans features TFL COOL BLACK handling, which reduces the surface temperature of black Cordura significantly when exposed to sun radiation, which makes the trousers cooler on sunny days and reduces ageing.
The end result is outer trousers that are abrasion and tear resistant as well as waterproof, wind proof and breathable providing lasting protection against variable weather elements, from warm weather to torrential rain.
The ARMAS trousers have a breathable mesh lining and a detachable 60g thermal lining which features Outlast® technology.
The lining of the Rukka Armas trousers incorporates Outlast® technology, which continuously interacts with the unique micro-climate of the human body and the environment to moderate temperature from being too hot or too cold to being just right.
The human body naturally sweats to cool the skin, reducing the ability of clothing, footwear and bedding to keep the body dry and comfortable. Outlast® technology, conversely, will keep individuals comfortable by absorbing body heat when too much is created, thereby diminishing the amount of moisture. Outlast® materials balance your temperature through the use of patented micro-encapsulated Thermocules™ that absorb and store excess heat, releasing it when you need it most.
In 2005, Outlast® technology was inducted into the Space Technology Hall of Fame for successfully transforming technology originally developed for space exploration into products that help improve the quality of life here on Earth - Outlast® technology was originally developed for NASA for use in gloves and other apparel applications such as pants and socks to buffer and moderate the temperature found in space and very high altitude.
Simply put, here are the advantages in using Outlast® technology in motorcycle clothing:
- Feels cool and fresh to touch, reducing sweat.
- Absorbs excess heat and stores it.
- Releases stored heat when temperature decreases

Rukka was founded in a Finnish farm kitchen in 1950, initially called 'AB Sportsbeklädnad Urheiluvaatetus Oy’.
Shortly afterwards they bought their first "welding" gear, enabling them to make waterproof seams and launch their first range of waterproof clothing. Thankfully for international audiences, they changed their name to the less-intimidating "Rukka" in 1966, which was the nickname of founder Roger Störling. Nowadays, Rukka is an independent division of one of Europe's largest sportswear manufacturers.
Things have moved on since the PVC waterproof of the 80's, Rukka are at the leading age of motorcycle clothing development, working with leaders such as W.L. Gore and DuPont on new materials and testing. Every material is extensively tested by Rukka and the material manufacturers in every condition you'll find motorcycle riders.
The flags in the Rukka logo spell Rukka in the international flag alphabet, a tribute to Rukka's roots in sailing, which, along with motorcycle riding, can create the most testing weather conditions any of us are likely to encounter.
Why Would You Choose Rukka?
There are a great many motorcycle clothing brands competing for your attention and cash, and at Infinity Motorcycles we carefully filter the brands we offer so that they all excel at something.
Rukka, hailing from Finland as they do, excel at creating clothing that is useful in harsh winter climates and is extremely tough. Many consider it to be the highest-tech motorcycle clothing available on the market today, and we certainly wouldn't put up a counter-argument.
Being hardy, tough and well-built, it naturally lasts a long time – so the adage "buy cheap, pay twice" is definitely relevant here. Rukka is more expensive than some other brands, but can last much longer and consequently comes with generous warranties, so factoring this in you can get a lot more clothing for your money with Rukka.
One of the reasons for Rukka jackets' toughness is the attention and care taken during construction. The stitching and attention to detail at wear points on Rukka products has a legitimate claim to being the best in the business, and it is an aspect of motorcycle clothing that is often ignored by the cheaper brands, resulting in excessive wear and a need to replace your motorcycle clothing more frequently.
What most people think of when they think of Rukka, even more than their extreme toughness and weather resistance, is features. Rukka have more features, clever additions and high tech fabrics than any other brand we can think of that caters to the same audience. From armour and armour pockets on every stretch of jacket, to the advanced Gore-Tex and Superfabric materials that make the jackets weather and abrasion resistant, respectively – their special features run the gamut from life-saving, to leg-saving, to simply day-saving.
That's the short version of why you would choose Rukka – for the long version, with a hefty dose of personal experience, come into one of our Infinity stores and talk to one of our knowledgeable staff.
Why Not Rukka?
It's also important to recognise that you might not choose Rukka for some roles. While Rukka make very versatile motorcycle clothing (great for off-road, sports and touring – a really rare combination), it's not Dainese race gear, and it doesn't want to be.
Similarly, if you're not sure if you'll still be riding motorcycles in five years’ time (for whatever reason), some of the advantages of Rukka motorcycle clothing will be a bit lost on you. Although you'll still have the advantage of top of the range protection, it might not be so important to you that the construction is high enough quality to last for years on end, or that Rukka clothing comes with a five year warranty.
All in all, however, we think Rukka are an incredibly good brand of motorcycle clothing, and deceptively good value for money.
Rukka at Infinity
Rukka make excellent clothing suitable for off-road, sports and touring motorcyclists. As the clothing is so good at such disparate roles, they make a good choice for the dedicated motorcycle rider looking for a single set of clothing to wear for all conditions.
At Infinity, many of our shop staff have worn Rukka as well as our other brands, and will have strong opinions on what's best for you and your riding style! We recommend coming in to our stores to take advantage of their expertise, as well as to take the most important step when buying motorcycle clothing – trying on the clothing for size.

After riding in torrential rain and floods a couple of weeks ago these did the job of absolute dryness really well - can't fault them - comfortable look great and do the job - worth the money
Rukka wins again
Rukka gear is expensive. My old and mid ranged Rukka gear was getting tired after 6 years use. The jacket was one of the shorter bodied ones and occasional leaks were due to my long body and short jacket methinks. I did look at Klim and Harvaarsons etc and time and time again the reviews came up with Rukka for fit, waterproofness, technical material, protection, warranty and durability. I went for the Arma-S as it is top of the range and Infinity were great with price, service and extended warranty. The quality is awesome, fit superb, watertight and the linings really work. Very happy of Kendal.
Not as good as the originals
I bought a pair,of these about 2 years ago, and I couldn't fault them. I ride almost daily regardless of the weather and these were worth every penny for the weather protection. But after a year the fabric had faded unevenly and they had started to leak. Witha 5 year warranty I sent them back to infinity and a new pair was delivered, without any quibble. Great service. But the new replacement pair have changed styling. Although they were supposedly the same size as the originals they were obviously 'smaller' in fit. Annoyingly the waist fastening (Velcro) won't reach across the waistband and I needed to buy an extra roll of Velcro to cobble together some sort of fit across the waist. (I have not put on so much weight between returning the originals and reviewing the new!!). So I have been unable to wear them until my homemade extras had been added in order simply to fasten them. This is a very poor feature. My original pair would have had a five star rating, even though they leaked aft
Like the matching jacket these Rukka trousers are pricey but in my mind worth every penny. Always comfortable on and off the bike, the bottoms are large enough to go over the top of my AlpineStars Supertech R boots but can be made to fit over smaller boots. The outlast lining keeps you just at the right temperature in spring and autumn, not too hot and not too cool but as with the jacket I remove the lining in the summer.
